The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli expresses his condolences over the passing of Georgian academician Gucha Kvaratskhelia:

"I express my deep sorrow over the death of the famous Georgian academician, former Minister of Education of the Republic of Georgia - Gucha Kvaratskhelia and my condolences to his family, colleagues, friends and representatives of scientific circles.

Gucha Kvaratskhelia has been the director and chief researcher of the Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics for many years. She is the author of more than 100 scientific papers and numerous monographs. At the same time, she worked at Tbilisi State University and Pushkin State Pedagogical Institute, where she helped raise countless generations.

A respected and honored teacher, she has been a member of the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences since 2005. In addition to scientific activities, Gucha Kvaratskhelia was actively involved in creative work. She is the author of numerous poetry collections and dramatic works.

The death of Gucha Kvaratskhelia is a great loss for the Georgian scientific community. "
