The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), in close cooperation with the government, have been successfully implementing the "Georgian Vocational Education and Extension Systems Modernization Project" for several years, promoting the development of vocational education in Georgia.

Under the project, grants were awarded to 31 public and private colleges, which contributed to the promotion of vocational education institutions, their institutional strengthening, the development of new curricula and legal acts, the international exchange of professional students, the process of introducing new standards for authorization and more.

The six vocational education institutions, equipped with state-of-the-art agricultural machinery under the project, will receive vocational students for the first time in the fall of 2021 in agriculture and forestry programs. The grant program also provided for the development of information technology and digital teaching practices in vocational colleges.

An online summarizing event was held as part of the project, where stakeholders, industry experts, and public and private sector representatives summarized the results of their activities. Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia took part in the meeting and addressed the participants. According to her, the support and results of the project for the development of vocational education in Georgia, especially in the field of agriculture, is immeasurable, for which the Deputy Minister reaffirmed her deep respect and gratitude to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). She noted that this joint effort will affect the economic development of the country.
