From the new academic year, those wishing to receive vocational education of modern standards will be able to attend the Swiss Agrarian School "Kavkasia" in Dmanisi, where the registration of the first students has already begun.
Kavkasia is an unprecedented non-profit private initiative in the field of vocational education in Georgia and its goal is to become a modern educational hub for vocational education in the country, where interested people, in a developing learning and entrepreneurial environment, will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in line with international standards.
In addition to theoretical training, prospective students will also undergo practical training on the ground. For this purpose, there will be a livestock farm and a modern cheese factory in accordance with Swiss standards. Under the supervision of professional teachers, the students themselves run the day-to-day activities of the farm, prepare food for the farm, work in the laboratory, process milk, and make dairy products that will be sold in the school-owned store. In addition, the school also offers students a comfortable dormitory. The college, set up according to the Swiss standard, will specialize in animal husbandry, milk, and cheese processing.
Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia visited the college and together with its founder Mikho Svimonishvili discussed the prospects of cooperation with the Ministry and the development of the college.
Tamar Kitiashvili believes that by establishing an agrarian school in Dmanisi and offering priority professions, a great prospect and guaranteed employment opportunity has emerged for the citizens. According to her, the Ministry will be actively involved in the development of the school and will have the full support of the state.
The main partner of the college is one of the leading Swiss agrarian schools "Plantahof", as well as the Swiss Brown Association and one of the largest Swiss livestock producers "Swissgenetics". Also, the partners of the college are the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the United Nations Development Program in Georgia.
