The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, along with his deputy, Nodar Papukashvili, is on a working visit to London to participate in the World Education Forum.
As part of the panel discussion "Development of Balanced Approaches at Preschool and Higher Education Levels" the minister addressed the education ministers from 114 countries. He discussed the prospects for the development of higher education in Georgia, the importance of human capital development, and the integration of modern technologies at all levels of education.
In his speech, Giorgi Amilakhvari also highlighted that the main priority of the Georgian government, which is to ensure continuous access to quality education and the development of human capital. To achieve this, funding for the education sector is increased annually.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted that the Ministry is actively implementing numerous reforms to improve the quality of education across general, vocational, and higher education. He particularly noted innovations in general education, such as the new document on national goals for general education, the national teacher's award, and large-scale educational infrastructure projects in the country.
Moreover, Minister Amilakhvari also addressed recent developments in vocational education, stating that the Ministry is working to increase the accessibility of vocational education and offer diverse programs to students. A new vision has been developed to strengthen public-private partnerships at the vocational education level.
Regarding the internationalization of higher education, the minister pointed out that significant steps have been taken in recent years. The Ministry continues to collaborate with foreign universities to develop joint double degree educational programs.
Giorgi Amilakhvari also discussed transnational education and the in-depth research conducted by the British organization Times Higher Education (THE) in Georgia from January to March this year. This research was part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and the British Council. He highlighted ongoing efforts between Georgia and Great Britain to implement joint educational programs at the higher education level.
The main topics at the World Education Forum in London include educational challenges, solutions, artificial intelligence, and modern technologies as mechanisms for advancing education. Education ministers from various countries are discussing how to effectively utilize and implement modern advancements in the teaching and learning process.
