The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia addresses recent social media discussions regarding the removal of specific works from the Georgian Language and Literature Program for the Unified National Examinations.
To clarify, the curriculum has not been altered, and no works have been removed from the program. The 2025 National Examination Program is based solely on the mandatory literature outlined in the National Curriculum. If a particular work is not included in the examination program, it does not mean that it is no longer taught in schools.
The examination program focuses exclusively on compulsory works to ensure fairness and equal access to education for all students.
We would also like to remind the public that a revision of subject standards is currently underway with the involvement of a group of experts. As part of this process, the list of compulsory literature is being reviewed and updated. Our goal is to include literature that enhances the development of national and patriotic values in students. We hope that, in the future, these works will be incorporated into the examination program as part of the mandatory literature.
The Ministry remains committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable educational environment for all students.
