Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Irine Kurdadze has awarded ten successful teachers in inclusive education.
The awarded teachers have been working effectively with the schoolchildren with special education needs, using individual approach with each of them and supporting their integration into the society.
The teachers have been selected by the multidisciplinary committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and they have been presented with one time cash vouchers.
Enhancing the inclusive education is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The Ministry implements the program on inclusive education in more than 100 schools of Georgia. The program envisages the professional development of the teachers working with the schoolchildren with limited abilities. The Ministry allocates 100.000 GEL on this purpose every year.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia started development of the inclusive education in 2005. In the beginning it was implemented in 10 pilot schools of Tbilisi. The teachers of these schools have gained the experience for the past 7 years. Nowadays there are 60 inclusive schools in Tbilisi. The teachers play important role in effective development of inclusive education.
