Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions under the Ministry met media representatives. A two day seminar was held in Adjara and up to 20 representatives from TV, Radio and Print media participated in it.

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini attended the seminar. According to the Minister, Office of Resource Officers is one of the successful projects developed in the framework of the ongoing reforms in education.

Representatives of the Office of Resource Officers informed the journalists on the activities and responsibilities of the Resource Officers.

The seminar participants got information on the goals and tasks of the Office of Resource Officers, as well as on the trainings Resource Officer passed before commencing their activities at educational institutions.

Resource officers themselves also took part in the seminar,as talked about their tasks and roles as well as relations with schoolchildren, parents and teachers. According to Resource Officers, the schoolchildren consider them elder friends and share the personal concerns with resource officers.

After the Office of the Resource officers had been established, crime was decreased at schools. The studies show that schoolchildren quitted smoking at school; they also started to come on time at school and stopped skipping the classes. At the same time, the conflict among schoolchildren was eradicated and school vandalism was decreased.
