The branded schools were identified in the framework of school branding project initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia-Mr. Dimitri Shashkin met the top ten school principles identified in the branding process and granted them special certificates. The abovementioned schools were awarded ten stars. The list of ten star schools is posted on the Ministry’s official website.
The branding process of schools began last year. Branding is mandatory for public schools, while it is only voluntary for private schools. Schools should meet with several criterions, according to which the number of stars to be granted to a school will be determined.
In the first stage of the branding process, the schools were evaluated by school administrations. The decision to grant them stars was made by specially summoned commissions. The highest evaluation score was determined to be ten stars. Initially all schools automatically were granted five stars. Star augmentation to schools was based on several criterions. The school received the tenth star, the highest evaluation, after accreditation.
Branding process tends to evaluate schools on the basis of following criterions:
• Learning-teaching;
• Qualification of teachers;
• Programs, Projects, Olympics;
• A school data of success;
• Institutional data of a school;
• High school diploma and verification of higher education;
The main goal of the branding process is to establish a competitive environment at schools and to encourage them to foster the perfection of the learning process. The branding process will facilitate parents' acquisition of preliminary information about schools to enable them to make informed decisions abuot where their children are educated. A school branding process will be implemented constantly and branded schools will be identified on regular basis.
