On November 27, 2024, Aleksandre Tsuladze, a candidate for Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia, presented updates on preschool and general education to members of Parliament. He emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive educational environment in kindergartens and schools and improving the overall quality of education. According to Tsuladze, the Ministry's mission is to establish a robust and inclusive system that fosters a positive and safe learning environment for every student.

Tsuladze highlighted plans to improve school infrastructure, including ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at rehabilitating and constructing schools. He stated, "The Ministry is committed to developing school infrastructure, including rehabilitation, construction, adaptation, and equipping school buildings, to provide a better environment for our hundreds of thousands of students. By 2028, the construction and rehabilitation of approximately 500 schools will be completed."

He also mentioned plans to equip schools with technological, digital, and scientific laboratories and to open an ultra-modern regional educational hub, "European School - Tbilisi," designed to meet international standards.

Tsuladze addressed the school registration age policy, noting that starting from the new school year, children who turn six by December 31 will be eligible to enroll in first grade. He further discussed efforts to enhance subject standards, particularly in mathematics and the natural sciences (STEM), to better prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.

"We will offer students in grades XI and XII subjects tailored to their interests. For those focused on mathematics, a new curriculum based on the experiences of Komarov and Vekua schools will be developed and gradually implemented in all public schools across Georgia," Tsuladze stated.

He emphasized the importance of STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) starting from elementary school to help students acquire skills essential for the modern technology-driven era. This initiative will enhance their capabilities in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and self-expression, while fostering confidence and resilience.

The candidate also addressed the need for psycho-social support and skill development for students and underscored the importance of professional development for teachers, inclusive education, vocational education in schools, and increasing access to education for ethnic minorities.

Through these initiatives, Tsuladze envisions a future where every student in Georgia can thrive in an inclusive, innovative, and high-quality educational system.
