The national team of Georgia returned from Bulgaria with two gold and one bronze medal. President of Georgia Mikheil Saskashvili awarded with IPADs 11th grader Jimsher Skhirtladze, 10th grader Nika Nadiradze and Nikoloz Svanadze for achieved success in Informatics. It should be noted, that all students study in the Komarov Physical Mathematical School.
Since 2008, “Shumens International Competition” is held in Shumen, Bulgaria. For the first time this year, Georgian Olympic team took part in this competition, with the organizing and financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
In the competition involved teams from Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Croatia, Moldova and Georgia. Despite the fact, that Georgians took part for the first time, they defeated the world’s strongest teams.
Nika Nadiradze won golden medal in Shumans International Olympiad. He is the member of the national team; In January 2011 he took gold medal at the Olympics which was held in Armenia. Nick participates every year in different kind of School Olympiads.
National team member Nikoloz Svanadze took also gold medal in Shumen. In Armenia he was awarded with silver medal and in 2010-2011 years he took second place in Physics school Olympiad.
Bronze medal took Jimsher Skhirtladze, which is from multifamily. He entered in the school when he was four years old and now Jimsher is 11th grader.
With Presidents initiative, for encouragement of schoolchildren Ministry implements different kind of programs. The National Educational Olympiad is one of them. The goal of National Educational Olympiad is to identify talented schoolchildren, support the school reforms, encourage teachers and schoolchildren throughout the learning process and identify members of National team for International Olympiads. Educational Olympiad initiated by the President turned out very important for schools of Georgia. This event has already become the stimulus for the schoolchildren as well as the teachers. The winners become the members of National team and arrive in Georgia with victory in international Olympiads.
