The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia begins a registration process for those who wish to get vocational education on August 25, 2013.
Beginning from the new academic year, all interested applicants will be able to acquire desired vocation with State financing in the fields of tourism, construction, agriculture, IT, services etc. Students will be trained at 19 State vocational and 14 higher education institutions that carry out vocational programs.
Each vocational program is defined in compliance with corresponding vocational standard, consequently, programs may last for minimum 6 months and maximum 2,5 years.
Registration is possible only with an ID card at information centers of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Kobuleti, 70 Resource Centers and 33 vocational education institutions.
The staff responsible for the registration process will provide applicants with all necessary information about state and private vocational education institutions and proposed programs. About 25 private vocational colleges have expressed their desire to join the registration process. Consequently, applicants will be able to register for vocational education programs proposed by State as well as private vocational education institutions.
After the end of the registration process, an applicant shall have to pass professional ability test organized by National Examinations Center. The test ensures transparency and impartiality of the enrollment process, checks skills and abilities of applicants. Consequently, results of the test do not present an obstacle for enrollment. Those applicants who will be enrolled as a result of a contest and pass minimum competency level in testing shall have an opportunity to get education free of charge in State education institution.
Those who wish to continue their studies or to transfer from one step of vocational education to the next (in case if this step is not an initial step resulting from changes) shall have to pass a test. This process will be provided by the education institution itself in compliance with relevant procedures.
Testing and financing scheme refers only to State vocational education institutions. Enrollment in private vocational education institutions takes place independently, in accordance with the procedures established by the institution.
Test samples will be available on vocational education web portal (www.prof.ge) and official web-site of National Examinations Center (www.naec.ge).
