At Alexander Tsutsunava Ozurgeti Drama Theatre, on November 11, celebration of 165th anniversary of Ozurgeti Public School №2 was held, in which many honorable guests including the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze participated.
Ozurgeti Public School №2 is distinguished not only for its nearly two centuries long history, but also with the fact that at different periods of time many eminent and famous people studied in this school including academicians: Niko Mari and Ekvtime Takaishvili, teacher and public figure Gigo Sharashidze, writers: Simon Gugunava, Tchola Lomtatidze, Lalioni (Arsen Mamulashvili), Sandro Euli and Nestor Malazonia, composers Viktor Dolidze, directors: Aleksandre Tsutsunava and Siko Dolidze, theatre and movie public figures: Sandro Zhorzholiani and Tsetsilia Tsutsunava, professors: Mose Gogiberidze and Shalva Radiani, general: Konstantine Leselidze, Porfile Chanchibadze and others. The school graduates are working now successfully in various fields of science and culture. Throughout many years of the existence, Ozurgeti Public School № 2 has repeatedly changed its name, but remained city’s one of the best and special schools. It is noteworthy that the Ozurgeti Public School №2 continues its traditions and successfully raises the next generation of educated adults. The school graduates are entering higher education institutions with good results and receiving grant funding, number of pupils participating in the subject Olympiads and academic conferences is annually increasing and, most importantly, in the last five years, the school has raised28 gold and 37 silver medalists.
