Deputy of Minister Education and Science Ms. Ketevan Natriashvili attended the joint training of European Council and European Commission, within the scale of ‘Teaching human rights and promoting democratic citizenship in Eastern Partnership countries”.
Four day training is aimed to develop the democratic citizenship and human rights teaching competence in school and university workers.
The object of training was to develop the democratic education in general and higher education steps through the preparation of teachers and of systems of future vocational education. The training is conducted by the experts of Council of Europe in the National Centre for Teacher Professional Development.
The participants of training are getting information about the teaching goals of human right principles and existing documentations. Analyse of teaching methods of schools in the direction of democratic citizenship development and human rights. The cultural types of schools, framework of competence in democratic education; The general view of educational teaching an it’s practical fulfilment in the process of preparing teachers, in the systems of professional development, also the collaboration schemes between schools and Universities, the fighting strategies against the prejudices and discrimination; The principles of forming out teaching modules and teaching resources of Council of Europe.
After the completion of first part, the participants of the training will have the sufficient knowledge and competence about the methodology and models democratic citizenship and human rights teaching.
The training is oriented towards results and foresees the preparation of one module from December till February in which will be included one of the competences out of 15 concerning human rights teaching and education for democratic citizenship. In these period they will get the tutorials from the experts during the preparation of projects.
After the completion of second stage, it will take place the affirmation and piloting of prepared modules. After they will be distributed in two direction – for the university programs and for the future professional preparation of teachers.
In the project are involved the 6 country of Eastern Partnership. Within the program, they will share best practices and experiences.
The main objective of democratic education in all stages of tuition is the harmonious cohabitation within society, tolerance and forming the peaceful , non-discriminating environment.
