Georgia is hosting the Regional Week of the European Research Council (ERC) for the first time on April 20-21. In 2017, the European Research Council (ERC) celebrates its 10th anniversary. The European Research Council and the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia are the organizers of the jubilee events: “10 Years of the European Research Council: Support for the Best Researchers in Europe”. The week was opened today with a conference, at which the projects supported by ERC were presented, reflecting the vision, development, communication with the society and innovation of the European Research Council. The projects of the world class Georgian scientists - Gia Dvali and Zaal Kokaia were among these projects.

The ERC Week aims to increase the participation of Georgia and other Eastern Partnership countries in the competitions of the European Research Council (ERC), the event will help the participating countries to strengthen institutional support of science and to encourage their active participation in the grant competitions of the the European Research Council. In the framework of the week, the activities of the European Research Council will be summarized and the opportunity to expand and fund participation of the Eastern Partnership region, including Georgian scientists in the ERC programs, will be discussed.
