Due to Coronavirus-related preventive measures and due to the current suspension of the learning process, a decision has been made by the Inter-Agency Coordination Council headed by the Prime Minister, that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia offer the public school administration, teachers and students more than 15 different Microsoft Office products, which will further facilitate the execution of interactive lessons online.
The distance learning process allows for customized applications, including Teams, video lessons, recordings, assignments, group discussions, and sharing of work files. The software also includes the design of virtual classrooms and the use of a digital board where several people can utilize the space for drawings, exchange of ideas and assignment completion.
Microsoft Teams incorporates OneNote Class Notebooks, meaning a personal workspace is created for students and teachers alike to assign assignments and distribute necessary learning resources. The software also assists the teacher in preparing syllabi, quizzes, questionnaires, and various online learning materials.
These Internet products are available to all parties involved. Additionally, an e-mail has been designed for students, with some limitations in order to achieve a high degree of security. In addition, tutorials and examples of successful use of software are available at the portal: email.mes.gov.ge.
All teachers and students must have an active Office 365 user profile completed to use the products.
Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Education Management Information System (EMIS) has been cooperating with Microsoft for 11 years. Many projects have been implemented with the support of the company and various modern technologies have been introduced in the learning process.
