Microsoft published an article along with a short video on its official website regarding the transformation of the Georgian education system – “Georgian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport makes Digital Education a Reality”.
The article discusses how successfully the Ministry uses Microsoft 365 educational products in the learning process. The localization of Microsoft Teams User Experience along with all online tutorials, made the product even more accessible for the public, thus increasing the number of daily active users from 750 to about 300,000 in just three months.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia talks on the challenges in the education system in the modern era:
"In the 21st century, digital technologies have a special significance in human activities. In order for a student to receive a comprehensive education and, at the same time, be competitive upon graduation, they need access to electronic resources. "Interactive online materials, online courses, joint study groups, a digital library, game-based lessons - these are all key components of a modern learning experience” – stated Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
The article also mentions that several important features have been added to Microsoft 365 applications in Georgia, including a library of digital educational materials and a chatbot that answers relevant questions. In addition, the Minecraft Education Edition pilot program has been introduced in more than 150 schools to develop game-based lessons and further encourage students' creative and collaborative skills.
