With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, in order to increase access to vocational education, the process of construction of a modern educational institution of modern standards in Khashuri is underway.
Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister, inspected the construction work together with Davit Partsvania, Director of the Agency for Development of Educational and Scientific Infrastructure and Mamuka Saghareishvili, Governor of Shida Kartli.
The three-storey building for 200 students will have modern learning spaces, high-tech workshops and a modern open-air sports field. The college will be fully adapted for people with disabilities.
As the Deputy Minister noted, Khashuri Vocational School will offer students professions tailored to the needs of the region, as well as long-term and short-term training programs, including electricity, masonry, culinary, confectionery, information technology, welding, flooring, Gardening, forestry and more. The college will actively cooperate with both the private sector and the local government.
The project, with a total cost of more than GEL 9 million, is implemented by the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency. Construction will be completed in the summer of 2021.
One of the priority directions of the vocational education development strategy is to expand the network of vocational schools, which includes the construction of vocational colleges in the municipalities and the introduction of programs tailored to the needs of the region. As a result, both young people and adults in all municipalities will have access to vocational education. For this purpose, the Ministry will use the educational spaces of vocational colleges, higher and general education institutions. In addition, the private sector is actively involved in vocational education and their interests and requirements are taken into account when developing programs.
