Under the guidance of Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, the Georgian Technical University hosted a conference for rectors.
The conference saw the participation of rectors from accredited public and private higher education institutions across Georgia.
The minister led discussions on the pressing challenges and various topical issues within the higher education sector. Key issues addressed included a legislative reform package for higher education, strategies to attract international students to Georgia, the development of three-year undergraduate programs, enhancement of quality assurance for doctoral programs and research activities, and the strategic planning of priority areas for higher educational institutions, among others.
The conference also provided a platform for participants to explore solutions to the issues discussed. Minister Amilakhvari took the opportunity to respond to questions from university representatives.
The rectors, for their part, conveyed their willingness to collaborate with the Ministry to address the challenges within the university system.
Notably, at the initiative of Minister Amilakhvari, these rector conferences are set to become a regular occurrence. They will be organized across all accredited public and private universities in Georgia to ensure timely and effective decision-making on higher education issues.
