Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Giorgi Amilakhvari, along with Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili and Majoritarian MP Anton Obolashvili, visited newly rehabilitated schools in Akhaltsikhe and Adigeni municipalities.
The officials toured Akhaltsikhe Public School #5, where rehabilitation work is nearing completion. The extensive renovations have resulted in the establishment of Natural Sciences and Computer Labs, a Library, a Resource Room, a Doctor's Office, a Dining Hall, a Game Room, and an Assembly Hall. The building has been fully adapted for individuals with disabilities. The total contractual value of this infrastructure project is 4,590,168.14 GEL.
The Minister, Speaker of Parliament, and State Representative of Samtskhe-Javakheti also visited the first public school in the village of Udi to assess the current situation. Once the rehabilitation is completed, the Udi public school will feature Natural Sciences and Computer Labs, a Library, a Resource Room, a Doctor's Office, a Sports Hall, and an Assembly Hall. An external playground is also under renovation, and the school will be fully accessible for students with disabilities. This facility is designed to accommodate 600 students, with a contractual project value of 6,774,164.94 GEL.
As a result of these infrastructure projects, students from Akhaltsikhe #5 and the village of Udi will begin the 2024-2025 school year in new buildings that meet international standards.
The rehabilitation of both schools is being carried out by the LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency, which will also provide the schools with all necessary training resources and equipment following the renovations.
