The winner pupils in science competition and their teachers return from Switzerland. They have been acquainted during 3 days the functioning of huge laboratories in the world, equipped with original IT technology at CERN.
One of the priority of Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is to strengthen the teaching of exact and natural sciences and rise interests among students. Ministry is delivering a few projects in this purpose, amongst are ‘international educational excursions’, and winners of competitions in exact and natural sciences and their teachers are awarded with the educational excursions in CERN – European Organisation for Nuclear Research.
Similarly last year, students started the excursion with the informative lesson. On the lecture they got information what is the main function of CERN: fundamental researches in physics, innovations, education and sharing experiences. Pupils also get information about the working principles of CERN.
Pupils saw the computer centre equipped with modern technologies, laboratory of magnets, in the centre of ATLAS experiments they saw the 3D video about the ATLAS and particles, get acquainted with the CMS experiment of Georgian scientist Giorgi Mestvirishvili, which was held in depth of 90 metre specially for the Georgian delegation.
Under the program of “International educational excursions” expect CERN, pupils are sent to Poland, in scientific centre of Kopernik. Each year the winners of national school Olympiads are sent to Great Britain in the summer school of English language.
This projects will continue in the next year and successful students in exact and natural sciences will have opportunity to see the huge scientific laboratories created by the leading counties of Europe. In summer schools pupils will rest and also deepen their knowledge in English language.
