Based on the modern international experience, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia introduced a new project “Work for Home Day” in a pilot mode for the first time in the public sector.
Taking the specific characteristics of the work into consideration, an employee is given an opportunity to fulfill the duties imposed on him/her one day in a month through the agreement with the immediate manager, which will not be considered as absence from work.
This novelty aims to create more productive environment for the employees. Comparative and indivisible consequences of such distance working are reduction of travel time and fuel costs, unloading of traffic, public utility costs savings, but the most important advantage, shown by the international practice as well, is a much higher potential of creativity and innovation in a comfortable environment.
Naturally, the management of the Ministry expresses its confidence towards the employees of the system and hopes that the consequences of the pilot project will create the basis for further expansion.
