On July 18, 2024, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia continued its efforts to reform early and preschool education by developing a diversified preschool education system. This initiative aims to ensure universal access to preschool education and create an inclusive environment for all children.
To support this initiative, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), held a presentation on the Concept of Diversification of Early and Preschool Education Services.
During the presentation, speakers shared the findings of a comprehensive study conducted by the Ministry and JICA, which analyzed international practices as well as the current situation and needs within Georgia. UNICEF also presented research on "Diversification of Preschool Education in Europe and Central Asia."
Notably, in a pilot program in the Dmanisi and Oni municipalities, alternative preschool models tailored to local needs have already been implemented. This diversification of preschool education will enable municipalities to adopt flexible and cost-effective models that cater to local requirements and prioritize the best interests of the child.
