On August 12, in celebration of International Youth Day, the Local Self-Government Youth Forum focused on the social and economic strengthening of young people. The event was attended by Giorgi Amilakhvari, the Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.

The Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health, and Social Affairs of Georgia has approved, through Resolution N46 dated February 27, 2024, a component for vocational training and qualification aimed at enhancing the skills of job seekers in high-demand labor professions. This initiative will facilitate vocational training and further internships in the workplace, thereby improving job seekers' competitiveness and promoting their employment.

Minister of Education, Science and Youth Affairs Giorgi Amilakhvari held an introductory meeting with the UN Permanent Coordinator in Georgia. During the meeting, the Minister congratulated the Coordinator on their new appointment and expressed gratitude for the United Nations' support in developing education in Georgia.

On the 16^th anniversary of the 2008 war, Prime Minister - Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of Parliament - Shalva Papuashvili, Minister of Education, Science and Youth - Giorgi Amilakhvari, along with members of the executive and legislative branches, paid tribute to the fallen heroes.

The graduation ceremony at Gori State University was attended by Nodar Papukashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

Starting in the 2024-2025 academic year, the program designed to prepare students from occupied territories for post-secondary education has been renewed. 

Starting September 2024, recent graduates will have the opportunity to participate in a four-month paid internship program in state institutions, initiated by the Government of Georgia. Applications for the internship program will be accepted from August 2 to August 8 of this year.

Students from Georgian public schools have achieved remarkable success at several prestigious international competitions, including the 54th International Physics Olympiad (iPho 2024), the 4th European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics (egoi 2024), the 12th International Tournament of Young Naturalists (IYNT 2024), and the 37th International Young Physicists' Tournament (IYPT 2024).

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Nodar Papukashvili, accompanied by Givi Mikanadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science, and Youth Affairs, visited the Anaklia Youth Camp and held a meeting with students.

The Ministry of Justice of Georgia organized the opening event of the international conference "Comprehensive Approach to Crime Prevention," aimed at enhancing inter-agency cooperation in crime prevention and probation, promoting professional development among specialists, and facilitating the exchange of information on existing services and resources.

In his welcoming speech, the Minister congratulated the students on their achievements and wished them continued success.

Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, introduced Giorgi Khubua, the newly appointed rector, to the administration and academic staff of Kutaisi International University (KIU). The Minister expressed his wishes for the new rector's success in developing the university. He emphasized that Giorgi Khubua's leadership, driven by passion and rich experience, will help KIU become a leading educational institution not only in Georgia but throughout the region.

The Georgian national team had a successful outing at the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2024) held in the United Kingdom, securing 1 gold medal, 3 bronze medals, and an honorary diploma.

The 8th European Physics Olympics (Eupho 2024), organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia in collaboration with Kutaisi International University (KIU), took place in Kutaisi this year. The closing ceremony and awards presentation were held at the Akaki Tsereteli State University Ceremony Hall, attended by Tamar Makharashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.
