Aleksandre Tevzadze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia visited St. Grigol Peradze Tbilisi Teaching University. The Deputy Minister viewed the renewed learning environment of the university, auditoriums, chemistry and surgical laboratories and also participated in opening event of the International Conference of Students.

The legislative changes approved at today’s Government session will provide formation of the education system of European level in all stages of education.

Legislative changes provide all the important challenges that are on the agenda of the education system of modern developed countries.

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli met the initiative group, including the special teachers, the head of the Special Teachers Association and the parent. The meeting focused on challenges facing the inclusive education and in particular the issue of development of the profession of a special teacher.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Tevzadze held a meeting with senior European experts working in the direction of researches and innovations within the framework of the “Horizon 2020” policy support mechanism.

Luka Lomtadze is a third-year student of Computer Engineering of San Diego State University- Georgia. Luka is the first from this university, who will get an internship at Facebook head office. Facebook has chosen Luka among 300 students out of 250,000 students and invited him on the position of Software Development in Silicon Valley in Menlo Park in summer. “To get to Facebook was my long time dream and I knew sooner or later, I would have achieved my goal,” - says Luka.

First of all, I would like to express my sorrow for the tragedy that took the lives of two young people and reveal my condolences to their parents, relatives and the whole society.

The relevant authorities are doing their best to establish the truth in the immediate future.

An extended meeting was held with the children psychologists and organizations working on educational issues with the initiative of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli.

Today, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia and Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a working meeting regarding the tragedy occurred on Khorava Street.

Together with our whole society, I am shocked by the tragedy which happened at the Khorava Street.

In this difficult moment, first of all, I give consolation to parents and relatives of deceased pupils.

Doctors do not spare their efforts and I hope that they will be able to save the life of heavily wounded pupil.

A seminar on “Work-Based / Dual Learning Funding” was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the European Training Foundation (ETF).

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli held an introductory meeting with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representative in Georgia Laila Omar Gad, where the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and UNICEF and the prospects of its further enhancement was discussed.

The issue of funding of the affected students living in the villages adjacent to the demarcation line of the occupied territories was discussed at the Government meeting. It was decided that the Ministry of Education and Science will fund teaching of the students in 2017-2018 years.  

Winners of the literary competition “Autumn Legends 2017” were nominated in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Khatia Iatashvili, the student of Shota Rustaveli Theater and Film Tbilisi State University took the first prize, Aleksandre Kalmakhelidze, the student of Tbilisi State University was nominated on the second place and Mariam Chumburidze, the student of Georgian-American University took the third place.
