The Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia expresses gratitude towards the organizer of the anti-bully campaign
– the direction of Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium - and all the pupils and
teachers who participated in the campaign. Bullying, be it children or anyone
else, is a big problem which all of us should unite against. The Ministry joins
the campaign, promises to support the initiative of the First Classical
Gymnasium, and appeals to schools to join the campaign and express their
attitude towards bullying.

The commission for studying
dismissals of the staff of public schools and education resource centers on the grounds of political views
presented its bi-annual report. The presentation was attended by the Georgian
Minister of Education and Science – Tamar Sanikidze, parliamentarians,
diplomats, and representatives of different organizations specialising in human
rights protection.

The Internal Audit Department of the
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has finished working on the report
of the National Center of Manuscripts, which has already been sent to the
Center. In accordance with the procedures determined by the law, the center
ought to present their opinions about the report by the Audit Department within
10 days, after which a reconciled and approved report will be publicized.

With the help of the German Society
for International Cooperation (GIZ), new projects which involve certification
in quality management (according to the ISO International Standards) in order
to support vocational institutions, might be launched at the National Center
for Education Quality Enhancement of the Ministry of Education and Science.

With the support of the Ministry of
Education and Science of Georgia, ProGeorgia – a search engine for sponsorship
- has been set up. The author of the project is UNI.GE – a non-governmental
organization specialising in education issues.

A new school, built in the village of Samghereti in
the region of Tetritskaro, was inaugurated today by Georgian Minister of
Education and Science Tamar Sanikidze, members of Parliament and local
government authorities.

Within the framework of the United Nations Development
Program, electronic learning materials have been created for the Electrician
and Dairy Processing Specialist trades. Today, the presentation of these
resources was attended by Ketevan Natriashvili - First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of
Georgia.

At the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia
the 5th anniversary of the Office of Resource Officers of
educational institutions was celebrated and the bygone period was summarized.
In the framework of the event, Tamar Sanikidze awarded the resource officers
that had distinguished themselves in duty status with certificates.

Sanikidze met Belorussian Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Zhuraukou,
who, with an official delegation, is in Georgia within the framework of the
two-day visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

At the discretion of San Diego State University and
with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Alan
Swidler - professor at San Diego State University, Director of the Center for
Energetic Materials Research and Environmental Protection, PhD, - held a
lecture about the topic “Energetics, climate change and safety in the 21st
century”.

An event dedicated to handing Civic Education textbooks was arranged at Tbilisi public school #150 within the framework of the program “Future Generation”. Lia Gigauri, Georgian Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Nino Buachidze – representative of USAID’s Center of Excellence on Democracy and Governance, and Marina Ushveridze – director of the program “Future Generation” participated in the event.

The awarding ceremony of HMC projects winners took
place at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The winners that
will be attending a one-year course at British schools were awarded
certificates by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lia Gigiauri.

Tamar Sanikidze, the Georgian Minister of Education
and Science arranged business meetings in Georgia and Azerbaijan with the Deputy
Minister of the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research and the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Kingdom of Norway and
assessed the activities the Ministry had carried out in the field of inclusive
vocational education.
