Within the scope of Batumi International Conference - Georgia's European Way, the Acting Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Director for International Cooperation, Directorate–General for Research and Innovation of European Commission– Cristina Russo, the Director-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson, the Director for Neighborhood East of European Commission – Lawrence Meredith, and the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia – Jarosch Hermann.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Alexander Tevzadze attended the Policy Support Facility meeting organized by the European Commission at Tbilisi State University.
Due to recent developments, regulations will be tightened with regard to school excursions. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Lia Gigauri talked about several issues, and emphasized that school excursions will become of great importance to the overall education platform. Owing to the organization of the Inclusive Education Development Division at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia on the Day of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities in Georgia, eight students with disabilities presented original craft-works of ethnic minorities (Romani) living in Georgia.

This year, the scholarship of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been received by 85 students, scientists, doctorates and scientists of Georgia. For the first time in 2018 scholars and researchers are funded by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and DAAD joint programs. Moreover, al the scholarship recipients will travel to Germany.
During the meeting of the Georgian government, the amendments to the inclusive education were discussed by which the Georgian legislation will be harmonized with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and in full compliance with the internationally recognized standards.
The Youth Policy Management Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is announcing a competition for the volunteer development program within the Volunteer of Georgia 2018 project framework, starting from June 6 up to July 3, 2018. Volunteers – aged 16 to 25, will be selected from 64 municipalities across Georgia including Tbilisi (two candidates will be selected from every two municipalities).
Mikheil Chkhenkeli - the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia signed a cooperation agreement with the Julich Research Center in Germany, according to which Georgian students will be able enroll at the Experimental Laboratory – JuLab, and enrich their STEM knowledge.
