The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli stated, that the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, is to increase the number of people involved in sports activities, in order to establish a healthy lifestyle. The plan to increase people involved in sports activities will become one of the major priorities of the Ministry.

Delegation of Executive Directors of World Bank, who are visiting Georgia, inspected Telavi State University today. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and the Minister of Finance hosted the guests together with the Rector of the University.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli introduced a new action plan of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia to international and non-governmental organizations regarding the future of the education sector of Georgia. Representatives of Georgian Trade Union, Union of scientists and other researchers attended the conference. Towards the end of the presentation, all involved parties presented their recommendations and assessments regarding the action plan.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Alexander Tevzadze held a meeting with the Professor Pericles Mitkas - Rector of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and various sports organizations, public school teachers, pupils and their parents continue their excursions and hiking tours across Georgia.

Regarding the facilitated acquisition of the public school textbooks, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia clarifies, that due to a high participation effort from the society, the approval process is held transparently in a public mode. As a result, starting from the new academic year, the students of I-VI grade will start their learning process with improved textbooks.

Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Education Management Information System (EMIS) and the Emergency Assistance Operations Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – 112.

The regional hub of the European Academy will be opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The quadrilateral meeting was held amongst the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia -Mikheil Chkhenkeli, with the President of the European Academy of Sciences - Zyrd Klotnik, the Vice President of the European Studies Council -Eva Kondorosi and a Professor of Oxford University - Alex Vehratsky.

Tbilisi Open University partner - University of Lanzhou, will establish a Georgian Learning Center. The meeting was held between the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli and the Vice-President of the University of Lanzhou -Bao Baotin.

Within the scope of the “Europe Day 2018”, first Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Ketevan Natriashvili visited the student held exhibition titled – “Europe through my eyes”

With the support of the US Embassy financed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Children and Youth National Center, a publishing house –Dedani has published a guidebook titled - "101 Play and Activity for Children with Autism, Asperger Syndrome and Sensor Integration Disorder".

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a working meeting with the Microsoft Europe Office Manager - Miroslav Dvořák, and the representatives of Microsoft Georgia for effective use of the modern information technology in the educational process.

The first phase of registration of the first graders will begin on May 8 at 09:00 am and will be completed by June 8 at 18:00 via a process of universal elective registration for the academic year of 2018-2019.
