April 18 marks the International Day of Monuments and Sites. This day was established in 1984 by the decision of UNESCO and ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) and is celebrated all over the world. The goal of this day is to raise public awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage.

UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay sent an official letter to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli, thanking him for his participation and speech at the UNESCO online ministerial on March 30.

April 15 marks World Art Day initiated by UNESCO and the International Association of the Arts.

The purpose of this day is to deepen the dialogue between nations through art, to promote culture and its development, and to bring peace to the world. Notably, World Art Day is celebrated on April 15, which falls on the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci.

The joint project of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and the First Channel of Georgia – Teleskola, was launched on March 30 and continues successfully.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia continues to work actively in accordance with the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Council under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

Within the scope of the ‘New School Model’ project, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia is strengthening the creation of auxiliary Georgian-language based electronic resources and their development.

Today, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) celebrates “Play Safe on Play True Day 2020” with the international sports community. Since April 2014, WADA and the anti-doping community worldwide have celebrated ‘Play True Day’ -- a day that is dedicated to Clean Sport and is intended to raise awareness among athletes, the sporting public and others about the importance of protecting Clean Sport.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a video conference with the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Georgia - Ghasan Khalil. The main purpose of the video conference was to discuss the already implemented measures in conjunction with discussing the forthcoming plans to overcome the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic in the field of education.

Thirty-one years have passed since the tragic events of April 9. On April 9, 1989, the struggle for Georgia's independence claimed the lives of 21 people and injured thousands more.

For the first time in the history, owing to the decision of Peace and Sport organisation, the events and activities dedicated to the Sports Day will be transferred to the online platform. "I stay at home and exercise" is the key motto the world unites under on this day.

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), has released a report on tackling the educational challenges in 2020 caused by COVID-19 pandemic. Study examined practices from 98 countries.

For the first time in the history, according to the decision of the international organization - "Peace and Sport", the events and activities dedicated to the Sports Day will be transferred to the online platform. The main message of this year’s event is "I stay at home and exercise" around the world.

Under the initiative of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, a variety of interesting cultural activities are carried out online. Cultural organizations within the ministry offer general public a variety of activities: online performances, film screenings, online concerts and much more.
