The increased number of infected people in the country was also reflected on the epidemiological situation in schools, however, due to the maximum hygienic norms, the situation at general education institutions is under full control.

For the first time, a mechanism to monitor the involvement of students in the learning process has been put in place to prevent students from falling behind. The Ministry of Education and Science has enacted regulations requiring schools to respond in the event of a student not attending classes. 

Georgia hosted the 10^th European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO 2021). Ana Onoprishvili, a 12^th grade student of Tbilisi Public School N199, won a gold medal at the virtually held Olympiad, organized at Akaki Tsereteli State University. The remote Olympiad comprised of 213 representatives from 54 countries.

The National Award for Vocational Education, initiated by the Millennium Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, is being held for the fourth time this year and is traditionally supported by the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation.

Renovation efforts of Evgeni Kharadze Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory Tbilisi office are finally completed. Renovation worth up to GEL 750 thousand were carried out by the LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency. At this stage, the process of equipping the office with inventory is underway.
